Melissa Buchanan

Mel has been designing kitchens and baths since 1997. During this time, she has assisted many clients in the development, design, selection, and installation of their projects. She is sought out to collaborate with other industry professionals to design and construct displays, including the kitchen for the Spring 2002 Showcase house at the Home & Garden Show in Minneapolis.

She was also hired to do very unique decorative concrete work at the 2012 Home & Garden show with Becker Architectural Concrete where they were hired by landscape companies to design and install stamped flooring, veined countertop, firepit table, and an incredible patterned wall. She was once again hired to design and build out a show-stopper for another decorative concrete company in 2015 Home and Garden Show.

Melissa is formally educated in building custom cabinetry and furniture. She feels as comfortable on the job site installing cabinetry and countertops as she is on the showroom floor or in a client’s home. She is able to communicate verbally, in writing, and in drawing with everyone involved with a job effectively.

In addition to her formal education, graduating with highest honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design, Melissa has had the fortune of studying decorative concrete and design with industry pioneer Fu-Tung Cheng in Berkeley, California. She has also taken a variety of sculpture related classes at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD).

When not designing, Melissa has a blast with her significant other and very funny children. She spends as much time as possible with her many loved ones, preferably sipping coffee out on the deck or running around in the boat.
